Founded in 1985, Apollo is a RV hire company based in the United States offering rentals in Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Each motorhome is fitted with camping guides and welcome packs, while living equipment and other optional extras are available for hire. They offer a wide range of RVs that cater to all budgets, from cheap last minute getaways to luxurious travelling holidays.

After entering your itinerary, including travel dates, pick-up and drop-off locations, number and age of travellers, you will be presented with a list of results that can be filtered by selecting the various items down the left hand side of the page. You can also sort the order you see results by choosing from price, berth and rating based on customer reviews.

Clicking on a motorhome will bring up a new window containing more detailed information, such as vehicle dimensions, features, number of beds and additional items for hire. Here, I found the photos of the vehicle to be quite limited, although they do show a floor plan to help provide a sense of what the interior is like.

I particularly liked their ‘Travel Routes’, which offer detailed itineraries between different locations, broken down into a day-by-day reading with a list of highlights to experience along the way, as well as a recommendation for the best vehicle to hire depending on the route. I was also impressed with the range of different ways to contact the company, such as via Skype, Twitter and Live Chat.

One issue I discovered when making a booking with Apollo was the difficulty in reading customer reviews. Although there was a star rating for each vehicle, I could not find how to read people’s feedback to give a better sense of what the vehicle was like.
