From economy cars to premium SUVs, Dollar Rent A Car offers a good selection of vehicles to suit your every need. Since their launch over a decade ago, they have increased their global reach, with services now provided in the US, the UK, Germany, Austria, Ireland and Canada.

One of the first things that struck me when looking for cars to rent on dollar. was the out of date website, that looks as though it has not been changed since its launch. Not only is the style old fashioned, it has loading speeds to match, which are slow in comparison to similar rental sites. This can affect the booking experience, particularly as customers are less likely to stick with a site that takes a while to load each new page, dragging out the process for longer than it needs to be.

However, getting a quote for a vehicle is simple enough, with options to enter dates, pick up and drop off times, car hire class, driver’s age and any promotional codes you may have. Once you have entered all your details and hit go, you will be taken through to a new page that features a list of available options. There is a notice informing customers that all drivers between the ages of 22-24 will have an additional charge added to their bill.

A feature that caught my attention in particular was the Dollar Express Rewards scheme, aimed at offering benefits to loyal customers. It is free to join as a member and offers exclusive rewards such as skipping the counter, quicker reservations, priority customer service and free rental days. This is especially beneficial to people like me who frequently have the need to rent cars and therefore look for those companies that provide benefits for repeat bookings.

Nevertheless, it is safe to say that I was less than impressed with the pricing of the rental cars, which was far more expensive than similar rentals. Not only that, but the choice was extremely limited, with just two of the basic cars available to pick up from a major airport in London, at a steep cost. For that reason, it would not be my first choice of car rental companies.
